In the artice of 'What is Education' it states how Thomas Edison and Henry Ford became very successful without even finishing school, and it continues on stating how they were very eager to research and find more. However, this is not a situation we see in classes today, because students just do their task in order to please the teacher. It is not for the intellectual curiosity, and I strongly agree on this problem. Sadly the twenty-first century has turned the students into lazy beings, who just want to do the tasks and get rid of them, it seems like there are so few students left like that, who try to learn more outside of class for their curiosity and knowledge.
I also agree with 'What Is The Purpose Of Education?' article, it tells the points why we actually study and should study. It is not only for the sake of passing tests but to be better citizens and be more skilled and critical in life.

First of all , education is necessary to develop not only our knowledge but also our thinking styles For instance , education enables humankind to look different perspectives for each task. In the articles, writers complain that classes are not enough to learn some basic skills, academics, technical disciplines, citizenship. of education. Some famous achievers like Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and many others never finished their education at schools. However, they achieved some important steps in their lives because they knew how to research and collect information.I agree that lack of motivation is affecting the lack of knowledge processing skills . Secondly, ı am going to discuss exams which quench student's enthousiasm. In my opinion ,the exam paper can not measure the students' knowledge. Rather than focusing on a silly paper to demonstrate our knowledge or ability to get 'A', individiuals should aware of the hard facts in todays world. To-shape up, the formal education system says only the academic basics are important, emphasizing the collection of knowledge without understanding its value. What about the processing of knowledge—using inspiration, visionary ambitions, creativity, risk, motivation and the ability to bounce back from failure? Think about it..

The articel 'What is Education?' lay stress on inspiration and motivation. In this article emphizes that succsessful people use inspiration and motivation in their life but education system does not allow students to use inspiration and motivation. Giving homework about only one task inhibits inspiration and motivation. Teachers should find new ways to increase students attention. In addition to this, education should be a lifetime experience, not limited to the youth so university education have not to teach every thing in four years. Lecturer should only try to give new perspective to students.

In today's education system, motivation, creativity and ability are not significant, however, the only important thing is the collection of knowledge without learning them. For instance, the tasks that the teacher gives to students in order to make them understand the subject do not have any benefits. This is because the students do their tasks without creativity and enthusiasm in order to please their teacher. That's why this education system kills the creativity of children although it is supposed to teach how to think critically and process the knowledge. Therefore, education should lead to gain new perspectives not control the students' mind.

We all want our children have successful and comfortable lives. Therefore, children are just forced to focus on how they become successful ones. Education system actually force us to do this because there is a over population in the world and we have to eliminate some of the population in a way. Therefore, being successful in an exam plays very significant role in a children's life. However, this affects childrens negatively and today children are almost seen as race horses but a quality education is custom education that adresses the unique abilities of each student and has a positive emotional experience.

"What is the Purpose of Education?

In my opinion education does not have a single purpose.Because of that I am agree with Kim Jones. It has many purpose. During education process instructors may try to teach reading, try to improve reading comprehension and so on.As I see it, education is essential because allmost half of writers do not read instructor explanation (Don't forget to write your name+surname and section number)

In addition to that family's towards are important to endear education process for children. Yes it is essential but they shouldn't exaggerate it like say "education is the key to one’s success in life. Study hard! Get good grades! Go to college!"(Jones,2012)

In ‘What is the purpose of Education?’ article, Jones points out that education has not only one purpose, it has lots of goals like helping students become think critically or making them able to compete in global marketplace. I agree with this idea because when we learn new information and if they are difficult to understand, our brain forces itself and the thinking activity becomes deeper than before. This process makes students more strong when they face some difficulties.
On the other hand, in first article, the role of motivation is mentioned and it is very important for the education process. If students do not want to learn new knowledge, which does not attract their attention, they just memorize. So, the new information can be forgotten easily. This is because, Edison and Ford are given as examples, although they could not finish their schools, their achievements are based on the strategies about researching and also being motivated. Shortly, i agree with some parts of each article.

Students gain several skills from education and this gains enhance the level of world by solving problem with it. The writer of ‘What is the Education’ text implies the skills which are using inspiration, visionary ambition, creativity, risk, motivation, knowing how to research and collecting information. All of those skills do not provide only individual benefits but also provide social benefit for society. Kim Jones strengthens this argument with these words, “No matter what global problem you are dreading, whether it’s the creation of peace, whether its solving environmental energy problems, the solution –whatever is it- without an education done.” I totally agree with his opinion because education is a milestone of a human life and first it develops human skills then human transform them into a wonderful idea, project or other things to better life.

Education is considered as a way of having certain type of information and using them whenever they are necessary like a dictonary. The fundemantal aspects of education is ignored by focusing on collecting knowlegde or achiving any tasks. However education has much more meaing and purpose then memorising information. Inspiration, ability to process knowledge, ambition, perceptive insight and so on are essential skills for people to maintain their lives. Yet, the ignorance of these points canalizes people percieve having highest marks and being successful in school life as if they are measure of real life ahcievement, fulfilment and satisfaction. Whereas when it is investigated self-made achiever , the opposite of this situation is obvious. Therefore, instead of imposing on students graduating with highest mark, the system should promote to increase their natural talents and enrich value

In the article What is Education by Robert L. Webb the value of knowledge is discussed. He claims that the knowledge is not enough by itself because if one can't understand the value of the knowledge he has, it can't be used to solve any of the problems. Actually this is about authonomy and I totally agree with this idea. The education should be create authonomy. In What is the purpose of education by Kim Jones the idea is also the authonomy. She claims that studens should learn how to reach the knowledge instead of the knowledge itself.

In the article 'What is Education', the writer points out the defaults of the current education systems.I am strongly agree with the existence of these defects. The education system only forces students to memorize the knowledge. The processing stage has no value. The tests only examine how good their memory is. Because of that students can not improve their natural talents, they can not even notice them. They only become robots who are really good at memorizing. The education system should change in order to get rid of these robots. In the article 'What is The Purpose of Education', Nicholas Negroponte states that students should be learning by doing and they should learn to learn. I think this must be the main purpose of education. By that, students will participate the learning process actively and discover themselves.

In the article ' What is Education', the writer says that, in American education system, the collection of knowledge is important than the processing of the knowledge such as creativity, risk, motivation. However, the collection of knowledge by itself has no value as the writer emphasizes. For instance, Thomas Edison succeeded since he knew how to research and collect information. It means, he knew the processing of knowledge. Hereby, education system should give both the collection of knowledge and the processing skills by preparing new exercises to measure students could learn and use it or not. Briefly, education should contain not only make student to remind some dictionary knowledge but also encourage them to produce new ones by using their knowledge.

Memorizng in education does not inspere or encourage students who is in the system and it destroies their creativity as Webb and Creek mentioned in their article. In addition, it makes students feel much
worse with making them feel depressed because of boring structure of the system. It is diffucult to leran or memorize everything in every lecture. There are lots of information to learn and it is impossible to
memorize everything. However, system push studets memorize every single thing. Therefore, students have a diffucult time with killing their creativity.Steling their time with this system alsı affect future. The system is continued by these types of students ,who is in the system, and it has a impact on next generations. This makes sytem endless .Because of its obligation to be in the system barriers students’ way of uncover their abilities.

To solve the problem we need to find new ways of educate people.People have different types of brains and they learn everything differently. There are three main types of learner; visual, auditory and kinesthetic learners. We should divide student according to these thre types of intellegence and give them opportunity to learn in their way.To put end to the system , we can find lots of solutions but firstly most significant thing to solve problem is ending the present system and take actions immediately.

In the article of What is Education, there is a strong thesis that learning searching process is important than to receiving information directly. Because only memorizing information is not permanent and in addition to this in the near future when students become scientists or artists they won't put something new on their base information which means annihilation of productivity and this situation is a big obstacle of effort of developing societies. If we look at Einstein and Ford, we can see that they weren't depended on their memorized education system. They mainly focused on how to reach information, that's why they achieved. That's why I agree with the writer's claim. If we look at the psychology of students, we can see that they are generally bored. This leads to failure of their grades and feeling nervous about their business life in the future. If we look at Finland's education system, we will see that their lessons only take 3 or 4 hours in a day to prevent them from being bored. In addition to this teachers give importance to do an experiment by observing nature to compare human life and they paint, listen music, going concerts, theatres to learning how to feel pleasure from art. In my opinion the most important thing is that teachers trust their students definitively that's why, there are no strict rules. Students are always encouraged from their teachers to study by enjoying their life too.

In learning process inspiration and motivation are so essential that we should focus on talents which are innate. But most of education system is based on memorizing. I do not agree with this idea because there are lots of important people who are not well educated. Such as Thomas Edison, Henry Ford... They did not complete their education but they knew how to reach information. Students should be encourged by teachers with creating new technics or reveal their talents. On the other hand in the article "What is the purpose of education?" the writer points out that students should learn how to learn. In American education system, educators only focus on academic achievement and the collection of knowledge, but on the other hand, creativity and motivation are also very important. Education is not only about “memorizing”, because students should be benefit from the knowledge which they learned in their daily lives. Therefore, this education should be promote learners creativity, motivation and using inspiration, because education should be a lifetime experience. In the article “What is Education?”, writer focused on this problem. I strongly agree with these ideas. In the article “What is the purpose of education”, writer mainly analyzed the aims of education. Education is a personal thing, and there are many goals of it. For example, preparing children for citizenship, teaching cultural literacy or develeping critical thinking skills. We can say that, education doesn’t have a “main” or “single” purpose, it serves to learners many things.

In the article of What is Education, Robert L. Webb strongly advocates the importance of learning process and criticizes our formal education system. I agree with Robert L. Webb exactly. Most people describe education as knowing the knowledge because they became a part in their lives of education system that only emphasizes the collection of knowledge. We memorize information in the school instead of learning the value of knowledge. This situation is an obstacle to develop our some skills like using inspiration, visionary ambitions, creativity, risk, motivation and the ability to bounce back from failure. Education should involve lots of basic skills such as academics basics, technical basics, disciplines etc. Unfortunately, our education system only cares the academic basics, which is completely wrong. In highschool and grade school we only learnt memorizing. In university now we start to learn learning. However it is not so easy because we used to memorize what we saw in lessons. It is like a person who used to get fish from fisher. However at a stroke, this person has to learn how to catch a fish.

In the article of “What is Education ?” the writer explains the meaning of education and measurements. Author also highlights the basic concepts of understanding education and the skills that cannot be measured by tests. By giving the example of Edison and Ford, we can conclude that achievements cannot linked to academic grades, and success is not only about grades and graduation, but also it’s about collective information, research, analytical thinking and knowledge. I agree the idea that our educational systems are lack of right measurements. Tests are not the indicators of intelligence and abilities. I saw a Picture about this issue, like writer argues, the results of grading sytems in universities in a humurous way. It shows that “A” students are not the one who are the CEO’s of giant companies. In my opinion, the burden of succeeding which creates mostly by parents is leads an uneasy situation to students, and the purpose of education cannot eliminate to only basic academic achievements. The aim Education should also include the other crucial elements such as citizenship, decision-making, motivation, thinking, creativity…etc.

Education is the process of getting knowledge or skills. Every educator has an opinion about the aim of education. As Le Metais mentioned, educational aims may be intrinsic or instrumental. The most important aim of education is to develop knowledge, skills, and understanding for the individual and society and there are also other aims such as promoting citizenship, learning how to learn, providing a foundation for lifelong learning, learning habits for work and something else. In my opinion, all of these aims are very important for every part of our life.

Beside this, in article "What is the purpose of education?" writer stated the importance of learning process. I agree with this writer too. I think people should want to learn. Nowadays students just focus on to finish their assignments and get rid of it. Soceity focuses on students' test results. But the case shouldn't be like this. Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and many others were very successful even they haven't completely finished their education. The key of their success lies in their vision, research and processing skills. Stored knowledge alone is not enough to achieve. A Chinese proverb quotes “Give me a fish and I eat for a day. Teach me to fish and I eat for a lifetime.” So, teachers should follow the Chinese who leads the World for the last decade. The article "What is Education" reflects a reformist and modernist approach to education. Despite the fact that education systems have quite defects, the recent propositions such as home-schooling or e-learning are not satisfactory. It is quite obvious that present education systems are not able to lead to great inventors, leaders, geniuses, nonetheless, the special people are able to hurdle and can achieve their goals. It should be admitted that when the school-based education system is abondoned, people have to confront the majority of society which does not have necessary knowledge and facility which can provides students qualified education. The drawbacks of the chaotic situation may overweighs its positive consequences.
I hold the belief that the present education system should be entirely restructred in order to raise children who did not lose their encourage, creativity, intelligence and the innocent childness in their heart. Only a system very accurately designed can cultivate the 'desired' kids for the sake of both distinguished and moderate ones.

In the article "What is Education", it is very questionable that in our education system, especially in entering exams to high school and university, students who are good at tests are considered as successful students while others who are not good at tests are labeled as failed students. However, does the test system measure the talent that students need in their whole life? I think this question may be the beginning to fix our education system. The list which includes "skills that cannot be measured" is very useful to understand how meaningless the test system is. Especially, a love of learning, ability to process knowledge and research, and analytical skills must be the main skills that all students and educators should be aware of. The argument does not mean that the grading system should be removed from education but the idea that the students who fail in tests are not unsuccessful must be removed from the minds of the people.

In today's world, education system is getting worse and this system orients students to just focus on finishing their assignments and get good results from exams because their parents just think about their test results. However, these tests do not evaluate intelligence, or ability. It just measures memorizing. If our education system are not changed, our country will not develop. When we examine Thomas Edison's or Henry Ford's life, they actually did not finish grade school but they were successful because they knew do research and process knowledge. In "What Is The Purpose Of Education", she says "The children should be making things. The children should be writing computer programs. THEY SHOULD BE LEARNING BY DOING." The last sentence is so significant for education. If someone learns new things only by reading or listening from the teacher , it is not the real learning. Real learning can only become turning it into practice. By this way, that information is learned consistently. The writer argues about the goals of education and I think the most important goal is "to help students become critical thinkers". If someone is able to achieve thinking critically, it shows that s/he can consider all sides of cases and s/he can take decisions more neutral and consistent.

Defining education with a group of words is the simple and incomplete way but both article agree on that education should contain some elements such as critical thinking, creativity, decision-making, etc. Education system should be more than memorizing knowledge as the writer mention in "What is the Education?" article because knowledge by itself has no value. In addition, education should be lifetime experience rather than limited by certain ages. Otherwise students just focus on the academic achievement which means higher grades so they miss the real enjoyable side of learning. In addition, people must bring something different in today's world because it is necessary for development of global perspective as mentioned in "What is the purpose of education?". However, I do not believe the idea of equal opportunity to succeed in life. Education is more accessible and freely now but the system does not meet the children's needs effectively. They have to memorize informations and select the correct answer in series of tests. On the other hand, they have disadvantages in employment interviews for the rest of their life.

The article of “What is Education?” claims that education system says only academic basics are important and natural skills are not considered. Unfortunetely , it is right about it because most of the students focus high school grades. They don’t really want to be well educated person. Students memorize everything about lessons without knowing how these lessons serve their life. Also education system creates employees who follow orders or who cannot overcome barriers. But when we look at super achievers, most of all never finished grade school and they could overcome every challenges, because they learned to learn. In the article "Purpose of Education", it is stated that education has a 'multilayered' purpose within the society; which means it affects or is affected by, many individual and social aspects. In my opinion, this statement is more accurate than the attempt of explaining education in stereotypes. Needs and tastes of every individual differ, as well as societies differ from each other according to their historical background, economy, culture etc. Therefore, education plays a role that is crucial for meeting with these variety of needs. A well established education system should consider both the characteristics of the society and also the utility that individuals gain.

In the article "What is education?", my favorite argument is given in the second paragraph which is starting with Thomas Edison and Henry Ford because they are great examples of the topic discussed in the article since their surnames are well known all over the world although they were not graduated from a grade school. This may be a light leading us to think on the outcomes of education we are getting because education given in schools will be never enough to have necessary life skills. On the other hand, the time that we pass to get this education can be a barrier to have more real life experiences and skills so what is education then? A barrier? A preparation process? It gives basic skills to meet basic needs.Another point that i liked about this article is that it questions the quality of education. Moreover, I am not one of those who support home schooling, it is just teaching a student the objectives of lessons and even not letting them to join the society.

2nd Article. What is the purpose of education? Today, education is given to prepare students for a specific career but does it leave students alone just to let them decide on their career on their own? No, it doesn't. Education together with norms and society leads students to some future decisions and so-called educations make students achieve these aims. In the article, it is called education teaches students to think independently but can sth which is indenpendent be thought to someone? There is a words called "success". What does it really mean? Edison? Ford? or just SAT. Education systems are not modern enough and i think they should be changed to catch the century.

Making students love the learnig process is the most important point in the education issue. The ones who are not eager to learn something connot be better than the ones who getting mor satisfiction from learning somehing new. This eagerness will be possible with a change in current education system in which student s forced to memorise sort of information. In the text '' What is Education'' it is mentioned that to gain and memorize the information is more important than the process of these informations. in fact to collect and to know how to collect the informations that will be useful for them is more signicicant. this is called the learning process. in the same text it is mentioned that Edison or Henry Ford became the successors at the end of the learning process not the education in classroom. because such succesful guys knew how to collect the informations that would help them in their career life. To conclude, the description of education is not just memorising and entering the exams like in the current system it is to know how to get what kinds of informations like in the issue of Edison nad Henry Ford.

In the article "What is Education" by Robert L. Webb, writer explains what is wrong with or lack in our traditional education system. He starts with basics of system and goes through the all parts of it while hardly criticizing. I mostly agree with his doubts about measurement in school life. The measurement which is needed to seperate students is unacceptable due to its nature. Whatever criteria you use, it would be not fair for another one. Like Webb mentioned as an example, if someone who does not have ability for written test, will be counted as failure. Likewise, the knowledge collection which is tested in paper test is killing the knowledge processing in student's mind by memorizing. This situation leads to lack of skills like creation, motivation, taking risks and these skills cannot be measured by any education system. On the contrary, education's aim is to prompt these skills. To sum up, there are lots of wrong applications in the system which leads to raise non-thinker generations but these kind of wrong applications can be fixed by a revolution starting from the basics of system.

In the part of "What is education for", it is written that educational aims may be intrinsic in order to get students adopt lifelong education or instrumental to prepare the young generation for work (Le Metais 1997: 9-10). I'm totally disagree with that thought because all these aims considers the benefits of all other things like government, society etc. apart from students. What I try to explain is that the system of education must focus on students. It must prepare the young generation for being a happy, active, self-confidence, unristricted citizenship. To my way of thinking, instead of preventing the creativty of students, the system of education must ease making students' thoughts real.

I partially agree with the article "What Is Education", especially with the paragraphs dealing with student behavior control and limitation of future ambitions. Regarding the evaluation processes I agree with the fact that creativity and similar qualities are also important, but I don't think there is an efficient way of measuring these qualities. Firstly because the existent systems make the process of evaluation easier and more precise. There are millions of students entering SAT exams, and it is surely difficult to evaluate each one separately if another creativity-friendly exam format is used. Secondly I think that it is quite difficult to evaluate at the same time creativity and knowledge skills. If we take an essay as an example, if it fits the fixed essay criteria, this makes it a good essay, consecutively it is highly scored and the creativity may be ignored. But if a student uses only his creativity and writes an essay with his own format, this makes it a great work in basis of creativity, but it will be poorly scored in basis of actual criteria. In actual systems criteria is partially ignored, but if we would start evaluated according to creativity skills, then we would have to ignore what are considered today as important skills, and in that case some people would again start writing articles about how unfair that system is to knowledge, critical writing/thinking/reading or scientific criteria. For many years educators have chosen this alternative and I don't think this debate would close if they chose the latter one.

According to the article called 'What is Education' , written by Robert L. Webb, İt is resarched whether education systems provide perfect learning styles or it kills creativity and motivation of people. He stressed that many education system institutions don't consider skills such as ambitions, creativity, risk or inspritation. They focus on only teaching academic knowledge bu although the colleges will provide a professional skill that supplies life's basic needs, that's all, they can not inspirational skills. The author illustrates to clarify his opinion and he mentions Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, who never finished grade school but are so successful and talented. Furthermore, Kim Jones asserts the same problem in his 'What is The Purpose of Education' article. He supports that over decades, our education systems' goals donot work perfectly. They are related to personal but they should include society's success as well. I agree with both of these articles. Our education system can not make us prepare as perfect learners. When we learn how to research and develop our natural talents, we can be more successful. No matter we continue memorazing many things to pass exams, we are not able to reach real success.
